There is a challenge at the end.... You can do it! :)

Companion: Sister Espiritu

Area: Mountpelier/Cokeville

This week not a whole lot has happened. We just spent the week saying goodbye to people for Sister Espiritu. And in all honesty, we did not really teach a whole lot of lessons. :( But, this last week I found out who my new companion is going to be. Her name is Sister Parker and she has been out on her mission for just three months! I am so excited! I get a greenie again! It has been too long! I mean, I love missionaries who are about to go home, but come on, they get a little too trunky some time. Something that I have learned these last few transfers is what not to do when going home. But, I can tell that this next transfer is going to be amazing! We are going to get so much work done! My new companion better be ready to work because we are going to hit the ground running this week. I just really hope that her Spanish is good because we are going to be teaching a potential investigator tonight and he speaks Spanish. A member set up this lesson last night and it sounds really promising! :) I am so excited! And, I am determined to learn Spanish before I leave my mission! I will be able to use it when I get home either with a job that I get or when we go down to Mexico! :) Oh, and a ward mission leader also called us last night telling us that there is a member who is less active out in Cokeville who is wanting to take the missionary lessons! I am so grateful for the power of prayer. Last night testified to me that Heavenly Father really does hear and answer our prayers because I have been praying day and night that we would find new people to teach! YAY! :) The missionary work is moving forward here in the Montpelier South Stake! :)

Well, considering the fact that not a whole lot went on this week, this will probably be a short e-mail and also the fact that we still need to drive up to Pocatello to get Sister Espiritu to the mission home. But, I want to share with you all something that happened today as we were on our way to the store. We were leaving our neighborhood and there was a member from Cokeville who was pulling in to go to the dentist. (Sister King) Well, we pull over and get out of the car and we were talking with her. She is the one whos husband is not active in the church. But she was telling us that we have been a miracle in her life and that we bring the spirit into her home. And she said that she can tell that her husband is happy when we are over. And she says that it is because we love him and that we are interested in him and the things that he does. And she says that we love him with the love that Christ has for him. That made me feel so good. I can not explain the feeling that I receive when someone tells me how much I have blessed their life. It brings such a great joy to me. A joy that I never want to lose. And so, that is why it will be so hard for me to go home. Every day that passes I thank Heavenly Father for the wonderful opportunity that I have had to serve a mission and to have been able to meet the people that I have met.

So, I thought that I would share some thoughts and quotes with you that I have had and found this past week! :)

"Your Heavenly Father sees greater potential in His children than we or even our earthly mothers see in us. And whenever you move upward on that path toward your potential, it brings Him happiness and you can feel His approval."   -President Henry B. Eyring

"Our Heavenly Father sees our real potential. He knows things about us that we do not know ourselves. He prompts us during out lifetime to fulfill the measures of our creation, to live a good life, and to return to His presence. Why, then, do we devote so much of our time and energy to things that are so fleeting, so inconsequential, and so superficial? Do we refuse to see to folly in the pursuit of the trivial and transient?"    - President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"Where you are today is no accident. God is using the situation you are in right now to shape you and prepare you for the place He wants to bring you into tomorrow. Thrust Him with His plan even if you don't understand."

A pencil maker told the pencil 5 important lessons just before putting it in the box:

1) Everything you do will always leave a mark.

2) You can always correct the mistakes you make.

3) What is important is what is inside of you.

4) In life you will undergo painful sharpenings, which will only make you better.

5) To be the best pencil, you must allow yourself to be held and guided by the hand that holds you.

We all need to be constantly sharpened. This parable may encourage you to know that you are a special person, with unique God-given talents and abilities. Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish. Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what's inside of you.

And of course, I have to add a video... :)

As you can tell, I want to talk about reaching your full potential. I have thought about this a lot the past week and have thought about what I am suppose to do here on this earth. And what I know that I am to do at this time, is to bring the gospel to the people here in the Idaho Pocatello Mission. And, I know that Heavenly Father has someone that He wants me to find. And He knows my full potential as a missionary and only He knows what I can accomplish. I don't want to go home asking myself what if I did this better? We should have knocked on one more door. I want to go home knowing that I did all that my Heavenly Father wanted me to do. And to feel good about what I have accomplished. Now, in the grand scheme of things, the eternal prospective. I want to return to my Father in Heaven knowing that I did all that He wanted me to do here on this earth. I dont want to return to Him and look back on my life and think, I should have done that or I should not have done that. And also, I dont want to be embarrassed when I see that I could have done something way more grand than what I did do. I hope that makes sense... :) But, all in all, Heavenly Father knows our true potential. He knows what we can accomplish here on this earth and only He can help us reach that potential. So, just like the parable of the pencil said, you must allow yourself to be held and guided by the hand that holds you. Put your trust in the Lord and know that whatever comes in life is what needs to and is suppose to happen. He has a plan for us. And as we put our trust in the Lord and put our life in His hands, then we will be able to live the best life that is possible and the life that our Savior wants us to live. This week, my goal is to reach my full potential. To put my trust in the Lord and to put my life in His hands and do what I was sent here to do. Teach the gospel to those who are waiting to hear it. Missionary work is such an important part of the gospel. What a great opportunity that we have as missionaries to help people come closer to Christ through such important saving ordinances.

As I have said over and over again, this gospel means everything to me and it is so important. I will never deny the church and the power of the gospel. It has brought so many blessings into my life and I know that there are so many blessings in store for me as I continue to press forward and reach my full potential. I know that this gospel will bless all of your lives and that you will be able to find peace and joy through scripture study, prayer, attending church, family home evening and also, the powerful gift of the Atonement. Stay strong my beautiful family. I love you all so much. Help bring people into the gospel! Oh! I wanted to challenge you all to do something! Read the scriptures, pray to know they are true and gain a testimony and, when you do that, share that testimony with those you love and, here comes the big challenge, share this video on your facebook! :)

This challenge will be a lot harder if you do not have a testimony of the Book Of Mormon. So, you need that testimony! :) Also, when you share the video on your facebook, add your testimony to it and share it with all that you know! :) What a great gift that we can share with others! All by posting something on facebook! I have faith in you all and I can promise you that if you do this, you will receive so many blessings! Just by sharing your testimony! :) And please, share your experiences with me! I would love to hear them! I love you all!

Love,

Sister Ashley Halbison
