Area: Montpelier/Cokeville
Companion: Sister Parker
Hello! We have some time to email today! So I thought I would tell you a little about this week! Well, let me tell you, I have been so tired and I have not realized how much that Monday P-day re-energizes you for the week. Sister Parker and I feel that we have ran ourselves into the ground. Haha we are so happy that today is an all day p-day! It should be a really fun day! We are going to spend our p-day in Paris! We went to the program in the tabernacle and then we watched the parade! Then, after that, our ward mission leader invited us to go to his moms house out on bear lake for a BBQ! It was super fun! His step dad is not a member and he was super nice. I really enjoyed talking with him. Our ward mission leader is wanting us to teach him. But, It is in the Elders area, so we will have to work that out with them! :) But, fingers crossed! We are not really sure where we are going to go for the fireworks. But, we were thinking maybe the lake. But then again we dont want to have to use our miles for that haha. So we might just go to the park here in Montpelier! :) It has been a really fun p-day so far! :)
So, this week we have been working so hard! So, I didnt tell you all this I dont think, but on Sunday we were able to go to PEC, who said that women need the Priesthood? Become a missionary and you get invited to the meetings! Haha sorry, I had to make a joke about it! But, anyways, the bishop gave us about 8 names to go and visit, they are all less active. But, on Monday we went to go visit them, and we were able to see most of the people that he gave us. So, we called him that night and told him who we saw and what they said. He was very impressed. He even talked about it at a meeting on Tuesday! We are gaining the trust of the members! YAY! :) But, also on Sunday we were able to go see Kaitlyn! I was so excited! I have not seen Kaitlyn in such a long time. She is living in Paris for the Summer. But she is doing great! When she opened the door, she was so happy and she came and gave me a huge hug! And we hugged for like 2 minutes! She is like my little sister. I love that little girl! Well, we were talking about when she could get baptized and she said that she is not ready until her dad is ready. Then, a thought came to my mind... I said, you could get baptized on October 18th then I would be able to be there for your baptism! :) I told her that if she is ready before then to not hold off and to get baptized. But I think that would be so cool to be there for her baptism and also for mom and dad to be there! :) Way cool!
So, we have been able to meet with Armando this week and he is doing great! :) We have to have a translator. But it all works out! He is excited to learn English and also about the gospel and he said that as we continue to work with him and teach him that he will get baptized! YAY! :) So, we may or may not have three baptisms this month! I am hoping and praying that we will have three!
Monday night, we were able to meet with Chandler Hodge. She is our next door neighbor. She is a sweetheart. She is about 12 years old and she is excited to learn about the gospel. She is the only one in her family that is interested in learning more. But, on Monday we took her on a church tour and she loved it and she could really feel the spirit. As we were in the Chapel, we sang a song for her and then we sat down and talked with her and asked her if she would want to be baptized and she said yes! We set a baptism date for July 26th! YAY! Things are going so well here in the area. I can not leave yet! There is so much that I need to do here. I know that there are people that I still need to meet. I hope that I get to spend my last two transfers here in Montpelier.
Well, I think that this will be all for the day. I love you all and I hope that you are having a wonderful 4th of July! I know that we are! :)
Love,
Sister Ashley Halbison
