Hello Family!!!

Date: May 07, 2013
Area: Idaho
Companion: Sister Barnett
This week has been sooooo good!!! It has been the best week since I have gotten here. I love the mission field and it just keeps getting better and better. I am wanting to be the best missionary that I can and I am working as hard as I can. And I continue to work harder and harder every day.
Last Monday for P-Day ended up being fun. All the elders were playing basketball and it wasnt all that fun. Just because we didnt want to play with all the elders. But we ended up playing and it was actually a lot of fun! We are playing ball again today. Even though I am horrible at basketball, it is way fun. We visited these two woman that are interested in learning more about the church They are very hard to work with. They are misinterpreting  the bible. They were telling us how they think that we are going down the wrong path and that we are headed for outter darkness. Yeah... It was interesting! We are meeting with them one more time and then if they don't want to hear what we say, then we are not going to meet with them anymore. But it is fun to talk to them. We did share our stories on why we decided to go on a mission and the spirit was strong and we know they felt it.

On Tuesday I taught my companion the cup song! And guess what... We sang it at our district meeting. Haha We did the "i hope they call me on a mission" one. It was pretty fun. We are trying to add in harmonys and lets just say.... we suck at that. Haha. But we just laugh at ourselves and keep trying! After District meeting we went to Cafe Rio. It was a lot of fun. It was good for me because I was able to get to know the other missionaries and it made me feel more like this is home for me. :) That night we went to a spaghetti dinner and it was actually a lot of fun. It was for the Young Woman for girls camp.
Wednesday it snowed!!! YUP!! Haha but it didn’t

last long. It was melted by about 10:00, I was kind of sad... Oh, guess what!!! This day was the day I handed out my first BOM!!! I was so happy all day. The experience I had with that was amazing. We walked by this guy and he looked pretty sketch. He was wearing a hoody and he had headphones in and he was smoking. I felt like I should talk to him but I didnt want to. We walked by him a couple of times and I kept getting this thought... "STOP!!! And turn around!" So I stopped and looked at my companion and said we need to go talk to him. So we did and it turns out that he had taken the missionary lessons before and that he was interested but the missionaries before dropped him because he was cathlic. So we are going to start teaching him! That night we went to a ward and taught the Young men for their mutual. It was a lot of fun! I was so happy to be there. I loved it. A lot of the guys were surprised that I had only been out for a week.
Thursday was alright. My companion and I woke up at 6:30 and we were both feeling not so good. So we went back to sleep and woke up at 8:30. It was much needed sleep. We didnt get a lot done that day. :( But we went to a baptism interview at the stake center for the baptism that we had on Friday.
Friday!! I woke up sick :( I had a sore throat. Not fun. It has now turned into a cold. Do not worry!! I am getting meds for it! YES!! :D Got to love those meds. We went over to a members house who is having a hard time in the church. and she is so amazing! She has the strongest spirit ever! She shared something amazing with us. She took a picture and had us write all of our feelings on the picture. Just anything and everything that we were feeling. There were some feelings on there that I didnt even realize I had. It was weird. But anyways. She had us try and rub it off. It wouldnt come off. So she left and came back with a paper towel that was wet and had us wipe it off. She compared that to the atonement and how we need help through anything. And that we cant do everything ourselves. Just remember that HF is always there for you no matter what. He loves you and he wants you to rerturn to Him. He will not let you suffer. He is at the door waiting for you to answer. Later Friday night we went to our baptism. He is from Washington and he has family here so he wanted to be baptized here. So Sister Barnett and I were in charge of it. It was awesome. We got to share the restoration lesson and it went really well. People there were also surprised that I have only been out for a week and a half. So I guess I am doing pretty good :) Lol

Saturday: That was a crazy day. We woke up and were doing our normal stuff and we got a phone call from some elders asking if I could play the piano at their baptism at 11:30. I said yes. Right after that we got another call from another set of Elders and they asked me if I could play piano at their baptism as well. I said yes and we had 15 min to get there. Haha. It was awesome being part of 3 baptisms in less than 24 hours. With every baptism we went to, it kept reminding me of why I am here. Is to bring people closer to our HF. :) The President and his wife took us home after our last baptism and they asked me what is something that I expected/ didnt expect coming into the field. I shared with them how a lot of people were telling me that it was going to be hard. And I am not going to lie.. It is. But those moments when you have someone to share the gospel with makes up for those hard times. It is so rewarding to be able to share this gospel. I know this is where I am suppose to be. And I love it!
Sunday we went to two sacrament meetings and they were all good. It was fast sunday and in one of the wards I felt that I needed to get up and share my testimony. So I did. And I talked about missionary work and how amazing it is and that you can share you testimony with anyone and everyone. They want to hear it. I want to challange all of you to share your testimony with someone this week!! Even if they are a memeber! Your testimony will grow so much!

I have such a strong testimony of this gospel and it continues to grow every day and I know that by sharing this gospel that so many others testimony will grow as well! I love you all and I hope to hear from you soon! They dont lie with they say that missionaries love to receive mail. It is 100% true!! So send some letters and I will write back! I promise!! :) I love you all!
Love, Sister Ashley Halbison
