Before I get into how my week was and what went on, I would like to share a few things with you. First off, I was reading in the Book of Mormon and I was reading in Mosiah 2-4. And what is going on in these chapters is that King Benjamin is about to step down as King and is going to hand his power over to his son Mosiah. Before he does that he wants to address his people. So he builds a tower and all of the people of the city gather around him and they have their tents faced towards him. Not everyone can hear what he is saying so the King has someone write down what he is saying. Anyways now that you have the background, the things that King Benjamin was saying was from about the teachings of Christ. Those chapters are now my favorite in the whole Book of Mormon. I think you should all read them! They are amazing.
Another thing I was thinking about is my patriarchal blessing. I have been reading it a lot and I have noticed that it says a lot about my serving a mission. I never saw it before. But as I was thinking, why didn't I see that before? Its because patriarchal blessings are amazing and they can apply to you in many different ways at different times in your life. My blessing talks a lot about missionary work because I am on a mission. And I am sure that when I get home, the same blessing I have been reading will mean something completely different. I just thought that it was amazing and I wanted to share it will you all! :) Well, last Monday we had our P-Day of course and it was so much fun! I spent most of the time writing letters though. I have found out that I am a very slow writer. :) But we played a little bit of football and we also did this thing called slack lining. Its kind of like a tight rope, It was a lot of fun. And I didn't do too bad at it! :) I guess its like a sport and people take it pretty serious. But I enjoyed it!
Tuesday, Not a whole lot went on, I felt kind of down. We weren't seeing a lot of people and I just felt that I wasn't really accomplishing anything. At the end of the night as I was reflecting on the day, I thought to myself. Every day is a good day unless YOU make it a bad one.
That was my motto before coming on a mission and it is going to continue to be my motto. That night I kept telling myself that I am going to be the best missionary that I can be and I am not going to let anything or anyone put me down! I am going to strive to do my best in everything that I do.
Well, They tell you on a mission that the worst days are followed by the best and I can testify that to be 100% true! Wednesday was so much fun!
We had our district meeting and it was awesome as always, we pretty much have the best district ever!! And thankfully when we got our transfer calls, our district is staying pretty much the same! Well, after our meeting we went to Wendy's. I ate so much! Haha Anyways, This guy came up to us and said, how many of you are there? We told him ten and he told us that he was going to buy us all frosty's. How sweet is he!! He told us that he was treated very well on his mission and he was going to treat missionaries the same way he was treated. So you know what that means? I have to be nice to missionaries when I get home. That wont be hard at all! :D Well, after Wendy's we went to choir practice and that was fun. I love singing! And I love that I have a chance to sing! Ever since I got here I have been playing the piano for everything and its nice that I get to sing and not have to play the piano. :) Well, We went and visited Sara on Wednesday and our Mission
Presidents wife went with us. Boy oh boy, that was a hard lesson. She doesn't want to believe in the Book of Mormon because there is not enough evidence. She only believes in the Bible. That is a huge long story that I don't have time to get into over email. Lol its pretty hard to explain the things that we had said to her. But it kind of sounded like she didn't want to meet with us anymore. But we are going to try to continue to see her. But after we left. Sister Brinkerhoff (Presidents Wife) said that we couldn't have done anything different and that we taught a really good lesson. I guess we will see what comes of it.
Thursday was also a good day. We had our weekly planning and we were trying to think of ways that we could get more people to teach and to get more investigators. And one thing that I suggested was that we have a stake activity so that the members could invite their friends that are not members. I am very excited for this but I don't really think that my companion is. But I am going to keep pushing for it because I think that it would help us out a lot. Do any of you have any suggestions??
Wednesday. Guess what, It was another good day!! We went to our follow-up train the trainers meeting and we got a ride with president and his wife. And we were talking with president and he told me that I will most likely be training by the end of my two week training. How exciting!! I will be training after 12 weeks! That makes me so happy! After our meeting president and his wife had to stay for another meeting so we just hung out in the R.S. room and it turned out to be a lot of fun. There were about eight elders in there and we just talked and got to know them! There are some awesome missionaries out here in the field!
Saturday we didn't do a whole lot, but it was still fun. Our nights are always busy but we went over to the Tingeys for dinner and it was so good! After dinner we went over to a ladies house and he is less active. She is so sweet. But she gave us cake and I felt so sick. We have dessert every night and I am getting tired of it. I don't want sweets anymore. But we have to eat them or else it would rude if I didn't eat it. :/
Sunday was a good day too. We went to two sacrament meetings and they were good! I love being able to go to more than one sacrament meetings. Wanna know why?? Because if one is really boring, there is a chance that the other one wont be boring! Nahhhh just kidding! I love listening to the talks and learning new things! :) That night we went over to the Tingeys again and taught some young men who are preparing to go on a mission. They are amazing! They are going through the temple this week! I remember when I first went through the temple and it was amazing! I wish we could go more!
Well, It is time to go, I love you all and I miss you all! I hope to hear from you all soon!! :)
Love,
Sister Halbison
