Support Your Local Cows!!!

Idaho Falls

Companion: Sister Dearden

So, to start off, I would like to explain the subject of this email. There is a place called Reeds Dairy and it is soooo yummy! They have then most amazing ice cream and chocolate milk!  They put potato flakes in their chocolate milk! And that is why it is so amazing! :) On their sign in front of their store it says "Support Your Local Cows"
And I thought that it was pretty funny. So, I took a picture of it! Haha.

Well, on to the spiritual part of the email... I have been reading in the Book of Mormon... of course. And something that has been really sticking out to me this week is faith. I have marked a lot of faith this week. And I would like to share some of those with you. Alma 18:35 "And a portion of that spirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me knowledge, and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God." I love that scripture because it is telling us that if we have faith and desires, then our knowledge of the gospel will grow so much. And I can truly testify of that. Before my mission I didnt really know anything about the Book of Mormon and now, I know it really well. Still not as much as I would like to, but that is why I continue to read it each and every day! Another scripture that I love is Alma 19:10 ".... Blessed art thou because of thy exceeding faith;" We need to have faith in our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. When we do, we will be blessed beyond measure! Two more scriptures that I would like to share with you is Alma 19:14 "....and began to pour out his soul in prayer and thanksgiving to God..." Alma 19:16 "....they did call on the name of the Lord, in their might, even until they had all fallen to the earth..." I love those little excerpts of scriptures. Because they are just little phrases, but they have so much meaning to them. When we kneel down and pray at night, we need to thank our Father in Heaven for everything. He has given us life and everything in it. He is the reason we are here and I think that sometimes we take for what we have in life for granted. I love my Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ, and all that they have done for me. I love being able to testify of them every day. I have such a strong testimony of prayer and I know that mom does too because she shared an experience with me when her and dad were in Mexico. And I would ask that she puts that in this letter as well so you can see the miracles that prayer brings!
Well, I guess I will start with my week. It has been pretty great! Last Monday was pretty fun. We had a zone activity with just our zone. We usually get together with a whole bunch of zones. But our zone leaders wanted it to be just us because they wanted to get to know everyone that is in our zone. And while we were playing gator ball... I got hit in the face twice with the ball! And I ended up having a fat lip the next day! Haha It was great. And an Elder got hit in the face as well and he ended up having a fat lip. But his was way worse. It was bleeding pretty bad. His companion hit him in the mouth with his elbow! It didnt look too good! Oh, And my zone leaders names are Elder Heisler and Elder Carroll!

Tuesday was a pretty good day as well. Sister Dearden and I decided that we were going to fast because we are needed major help in our area and we will do whatever we need to to receive revelation and help from Jesus! But Tuesday we had a district meeting and it was really good. It was weird though because everyone was really quiet and I am use to my old district and everyone would talk. But I was the only one that was really talking... Is that a surprise... Yeah, I didnt think so. Haha I like to talk! And I dont really like when there is awkward silence in the room! Haha. But other than then quietness, district meeting went pretty well. After district meeting we had a baptism interview for Jenine. And it went really well! SHE PASSED!!! YAY!!! She was so excited to get baptized! And she was so ready! But getting Jenine to her interview was a hassle. Haha She doesnt have a car so we had to find rides for her. And we found a ride for her to come to the church but the ride home canceled on us so we had to find another ride. But we didnt have anyone's number because we left the list at home of sisters that could give us rides. So the Elders found us a ride. And when we were waiting for Jenine to come to the church, the lady who was giving her a ride called us and told us that Jenine had told her that she already had the interview and she didnt need to come. So, we called her and told her that she needed to come to the interview and that her ride was waiting outside her apartment. Haha so, she finally made it to the church. But that was crazy trying to get her to the interview. And that was our crazy day on Tuesday!
Wednesday, was pretty good... Okay, it was really good! WE SET TWO BAPTISM DATES!!! The Lord really does answer prayers! We fasted for our area and also that we could set baptism dates and it happened! We are so excited! Their names are Marco and Tre. Marco is the dad and his wife is a member and Tre is their son. They have more kids, but they are not really interested in listening to the lessons. So, we are going to try and work with them. We also went to the doctors for my shoulder and he said what he thought might be wrong with it, but I have no idea what he was saying
. Haha. But he did tell me that I need to stretch it and do not over use it and in a month, if it is not feeling better that I will have to go back to the doctors and get an MRI and potentially get surgery. So, I decided that I just wont go back! Haha. But we will see what this coming moth brings! Something else happened that was funny/sad. The house people came over to our house for an inspection and they drove up in a Ford Fusion (The cars they use for the mission) and they said... We have some good news and we have some bad news... (I was thinking that they were going to tell us that it was our car but that we couldnt have it yet.) They told us that they had our whiteboard but that they forgot to bring it to us! Haha I was a little disappointed. We are needing a car because we have a lot of country in our area and one ward goes on for about 5-6 miles (JUST ONE WARD) and it is all country and it is all Highway so we arent wanting to ride our bikes out there because everyone drives about 50-60 MPH on those roads! Lol
Well, Thursday was a good day! WE HAD OUR WEEKLY PLANNING! It was pretty good. Haha After our weekly planning we went and met with a Less Active named Daniel. He is wanting to get active in the church again and when we were talking with him we were telling him that he needs to start reading the scriptures and saying his prayers again and he agreed to it! And so we need to meet with him again sometime soon. Oh, and he lives with his sister and her partner. Yes, they are gay. Lol but they are really sweet. They were wanting us to come over for dinner. And they told us to stop by whenever we needed to. Later that night we were going on exchanges and while we were on exchanges, the Sister Training Leaders found out that they had a meeting to go to and that they were going to need to reschedule the exchange! So, we just ended up having a sleep over. Haha and we switched companions in the morning.
Friday morning... The Sister Training Leader wanted to ride bikes for exercises... At 6:30 in the morning and it was FREEZING!!! We went around the block only once because it was so cold. Haha. But when Sister Dearden and I went out and saw a lot of people! We had a lot of success! We even set a baptism date!!! YAY!! YUP, Thats right, three dates in one week! :) We are so happy and we own it all to the Lord! :) The date we set is with a guy named Sonny D. And he is pretty cool. But, sad story... We went to see him last night (Sunday) and there were a whole bunch of police cars in front of his house and we were trying to figure out what was going on. But we couldnt really tell. So, later Sunday night when we got home the bishop called us upstairs to tell us that Sonny was drunk and high on weed.... Yeah, we wont be going there by ourselves anymore. And we have a lot of work to do with him!
Saturday we had JENINES BAPTISM!! YAY! It was really good! And the spirit was so strong and she was so happy! I am so happy for her and for the choice that she has made to be baptized! I am excited to see where things go in her life. I hope that she sees the blessings that come from being baptized.
Sunday was crazy as well. Jenine did not get confirmed because she was really sick and she was in the hospital... :( She received a priesthood blessing and she will be getting confirmed next week. Well, not a whole lot of things happened on Sunday except for the whole thing with Sonny. It was just a day full of meetings!
I love you all so much and I miss you all! Thank you for all of the love and support! I pray for you all!!! :) Pray for me and my companion that we will get a car before winter... because like i have said, prayers are answered. And they will be even more if you are all praying for it! Haha JK! I LOVE YOU!!!
Love,
Sister Ashley Halbison
