Area: POCOTELLO, IDAHO
Companion: Sister Whitnah

Mom, I would love to have the CD "The Work" Some sisters here have that CD and I love it :) And my favorite scripture is the one that I put on my card! That is still my favorite. But I will look this week and see if I wanna change it. Lol :) And I am staying super clean! I love having a clean house! But I do have to pick up after my comp sometimes. I made a video on the SD card so you will see how clean I am. And it stays that way. I didnt do it just because I was showing you the house. Lol Oh, and are they going to make me my plaque? :) If so, I need to send you a picture that I want on it. I love you mom! Oh, tell dad that I love the letter he sent me! Thank you so much for all of your support and love. I really feel it every day. I hope that the car is working out for you now!
How is everything going in AZ? I miss being able to go swimming and go to the lake. I will be sending Kelli the flash drive with all of the music. And if she could send back the flash drive with the ipod that would be great! Tell the family to write me! I miss getting letters from them!   Can you believe that I have been out for almost three months! Time is going by so fast! You should send some pictures of the night that I opened my call and some of the other family get togethers. And you should send me a picture of my countdown! Just to check up on you and dad to see that you are doing it ;) Lol
This week I want to do something different. I am not going to do day by day telling you what happened. This e-mail is going to be more of what I learned this week. Most of it, if not all of it is from stake conference yesterday. It was very good and it made me think a lot. I would like to share with you the things that I learned and I hope that it will make you think about that you will learn something from it as well.
In Moses 7:28-29 it talks about how God looked down at his people and he wept. And Enoch is saying to him: Why is it that thou art weeping when you have made the Heavens and the Earth. And the Father says unto Him in verse 33: "And unto thy brotheren have I said, and also given commandment, that they should love one another, and that they should choose me, their Father..." Heavenly Father made something so grand (The heavens and the earth). But that means nothing to Him if He can not have his children return to live with Him again. The question that I ask myself is "am I one of Gods children that is making Him weep? Am I choosing Him?" And I can say to myself... I choose you Heavenly Father. And if I make Him weep it is our of joy because I did something to make Him proud of me. I am a daughter of God and I want to make Him happy, not sad. Heavenly Father is constantly giving us blessings. We need to recognize that and thank Him so we can receive more.
I am pretty sure that I have recevied more marriage advice on my mission that I did in the singles ward back home. Haha But a Brother gave a really good talk and gave some good advice that I will share with you. Attending the temple is key when you are married. Attend the temple with you spouse regularly when you are married. If you do, you will grow closer together and you will receive blessings of protection not only for husband and wife but for the family. And take time to pray for your spouse and each one of your kids while in the celestial room. Of course I dont have a family yet, but I will make sure that going to the temple is a regular thing when I am married. Another thing that stuck out to me was... One of the greatest blessing that we can give the world is a home that is contered around the Savior.
Sister Webb, Elder Webb from the Seventys wife also spoke to us and I will just share a few of the things that she talked about. She talked a lot about family history and how important it is that we get that work done. Our family is in the Spirit World waiting for us to do their work and it is all on us to do that work for them. They need to be baptized and sealed here on this earth and we are the ones who can do that for them. Another thing she said was... You know you are headed down the right path when you come upon road blocks and the advisary is keeping you from doing something. KEEP PUSHING THROUGH! :D We must all stand and learn our duty and build the kingdom of God. We know what we need to do to accomplish the work here in this life.
Now from Elder Webb. His talk was very good and I love everything that he had to say. A question that I kept asking myself during his talk is... How converted are you to the Lord? Are you willing to leave whatever is important to you and follow the Lord? I think of how hard it was for me to leave home and to serve a mission. I was struggling at first. But since I decided to leave everything behind and to follow and serve the Lord, I have been blessed in so many ways. So a question I ask you is, are  you following the Lord and leaving behind the worldly things so you can be completely converted unto the gospel? He talked about home teaching. And this can apply to visiting teaching and also missionary work. But he said, There is only one reason to go home teaching and that is because we love the Lord. So next time you do not want to go home teaching or visiting teaching. Ask yourself this question. Do I love the Lord? And if your answer is yes, then it shouldnt be hard to do your teaching :D He was talking about how easy it is to pick out the members because of how they look! And that is so true! It is because they have the light of Christ in their eyes! I hope that when people look at me they can see the light of Christ in my eyes and I want to make sure that they will always be able to see that. Have the image of God on your face. A way to become like God is through the covenents that we make with him. At baptism and in the temple. A question I ask is.. Why do we partake of the sacrament? It is so that we can become more like God every week. Every week we become more like God than the week before. Think about the sacramet and the covenants that we made with Him at baptism. Also, do not show up to sacrament late, How do you expect to become more like God if you show up in just enough time to partake of the sacrament. Show up early to spiritually prepare. The meeting starts when you get there not when someone starts talking at the stand. I know my savior gave everything for me. And so that I can be baptized and be reminded of that baptism every week. And so that I can be forgiven of the things that I have done. I know the Lord. And He knows me. When the Lord sees us, He will know us. Just like when we see Him we will know Him if we are truly converted.
This week has been great. Getting a new companion and being able to train has been such a great experience and I have learned so much in this past week. When you get comfortable, get uncomfortable. The Lord will bless you every day of your life if you live a worthy life. He knows us and He knows what we need. I know this church is the only true church. We have the fullness of the gospel.
I hope that you have enjoyed the change up a little. I look forward to hearing from all of you! I love you all and I miss you. I hope all is going well!
Love,
Sister Ashley Halbison
