THIS IS GOING TO BE GOOD!

Date: June 10, 2013
Area: Idaho
Companion: Sister Barnett
So, I will start with what I had learned in my personal study. So I guess this would be the spiritual thought of my letter! :) Its awesome and I was so happy to learn this! So, I was reading in Alma chapter 24 and in this chapter it is talking about how the Lamanites are going to attack that Anti-Nephi-Lehis and the Anti-Nephi-Lehis promised God that they were not going to fight. So to show their dedication to God, they bury their weapons of war. And then the Lamonites come and attack them and they dont have weapons so what are they suppose to do? Well, when they are being attacked they kneel down and pray! How amazing!! And I really thought about that and how we could relate that to our life. And well, just like the Anti-Nephi-Lehis, we can burry our "weapons or war" which could be our sins. Showing Heavenly Father that we are never going to commit that sin again. And just as the Lamanites attacked the Anti-Nephi-Lehis, Satan is going to try and attack us. And when he is, we need to remember to kneel down and pray! :) Well, that is my spiritual thought for the week!
Well, Last Monday was pretty eventful, after our activites for the day we needed to go to the stake center to make some copies. So we walked up to the door and Sister Barnett and I just look at each other waiting for the other to get the keys. Yeah, Neither of us picked up the keys. We locked them in our house. :/ So, We call our Zone Leader and he comes to our house with three other Elders to try and brake into our house. Thankfully the window that goes into our bathroom was unlocked. And thankfully Elder Lopes was small and could fit through it. :) But he wanted to make sure that you knew that he was really strong and handsome (words by Elder Lopes)  But as he was in our house he stole our Kool-Pops and my yogurt! I was pretty sad. I did still one of my yogurts back though so its all good!
Tuesday: Sister Barnett was pretty sick, so we stayed home and she layed in bed all day and I just wrote letters and colored and read my scriptures. It was pretty relaxing. I mean, I would have much rather have been doing work, but it was nice to get a little relax kick back time in the house. But later that day the assistants called us. And they told us that they had a car for us down at the mission office. Well, I told them that we would be there as soon as possible. We were down there in about ten minutes. We get there and they were like wow! That was fast. I just said, I told you we would get here as soon as possible. We were just a little excited to get the car. It is so nice! It is a Chevy Cruze 2013 and it is silver! Yeah, We love it! Later that night we went to a baptism for a little boy who is in one of our wards. His mom asked us to speak at it so I spoke on baptism. I think it went okay :) That was the first talk that I have ever given at a baptism.
Wednesday we did a deep clean on our house. The Zone Leaders were suppose to stop by and we probably waited for them for about an hour and a half and they never showed. And as we were waiting we decided to clean the house. We moved the furniture and cleaned our desks and now our house looks super good! It feels homey (<---- is that the right spelling??) Well, that night we had an appointment with a 9 year old boy named Easton and he is super excited! He told us he wants to get baptized! So we set a date for him and it is on the 29th of this month! We are so exctied for him! :) We were on our way home and stopped at the mission home and we were talking with President and Sister Brinkerhoff and the assistants came over while we were there and we were all sitting at the table and talking about miricals that we have seen on our mission! It was a lot of fun!
Thursday we had our zone training and as usual, it was a lot of fun! After the training we all went to Buffalo Wild Wings and it was my companion and I and like 15 other Elders. Haha. There was a Brother from one of the wards that we cover and we went over to talk to him and he said to us... I know that you are missionaries and you shouldn’t be thinking about this, but how does it feel to be surrounded by elders, does it make you happy? And I just said, yeah i guess. This would have never happened back home! Hahaha ;) Anyways, we were getting ready to leave and we asked for the check and the lady said that he had paid for allllll of our meals!! How sweet of him! That was a huge bill too! What a nice guy!
Friday not a lot happened. But as we were walking going house to house I was really thinking about what kind of thought we as missionaries should have throughout the day. And The thoughts that came to me were that we need to have thoughts of why we are here and of Jesus Christ and everything that he had done for us! He did so much for us and he performed many miracles and he continues to do that today. It is truly amazing what Christ went through for us and I am so grateful that he performed the atonement and that we are able to repent and come up to him and become like him.
Saturday, we met with this lady named Kris. She is a member but she wanted us to teach her the lessons because she is old and she has forgotten a lot about the church. So we go there to teach her and as we are teaching her she just says oh yeah, I know., I know that too. You don’t need to tell me that. We were trying to figure out why we were there. She was very odd. And we felt very uneasy about being there. When we left we decided that we weren’t going to go there anymore. Maybe just to stop by and say hi, but as far as going into her house. We probably wont.

Sunday was pretty awesome. We went to two sacrament meetings and in one meeting there was this young man who leaves for his mission this week and so he gave his farewell talk and he did awesome! Sister Barnett and I sang the special musical number and it went really well. We got so many compliments! :) Then we went over to his house for lunch and there were so many people there! It was crazy! And that night we were able to teach a mission prep class about how to teach by the spirit and it went really well! I love being able to teach!
Well family, that is all for the week! I miss everyone! and I love you all! Remember! Count all your blessings and thank Heavenly Father for them! He will continue to bless you!
Love,
Your Sister Missionary,
Sister Ashley Halbison
