Area: POCOTELLO, IDAHO
Companion: Sister Andreasen
What a great week! I have really enjoyed everything that has gone on this week. As everyone probably already knows, My companion had received her visa and she left for Brazil this morning. I am really sad to see her go. She was such a great companion and she will do great in Brazil! I will be getting two new sisters and I will be training them. One will be a visa waiter and one will be staying here in the Idaho Pocatello mission. I am pretty excited! But I dont really care for being in a trio, but it is always good to do something you dont like so you learn to like it right?! Just like how before my mission i hated veggies, and fish, and guess what!! Now i LOVE veggies and I still dont like fish. But I am learning :)
I guess I will start out with saying that my birthday was awesome! I really enjoyed having a birthday on the mission. I felt extra loved! Especially with the awesome packages I received from Mom and Dad and Heather and her family! I really enjoyed opening them! They were so much fun! I think that I am the only missionary that gets theamed packages!
I love them! Well, for my birthday we went over to a families house for dinner and it was yummy and they made me a birthday cake and that waws yummy as well! And I am sure that you all have already seen the pictures :) I got a lot of birthday wishes and some candy from one of our ward mission leader. :) The families here made sure that I was loved on my birthday!
Well, we dont have much time to email today because we are going to go play lazor tag at eleven so we have just a little under an hour to email. So I will just do some highlights of my week... Well, Friday we had meetings all day because I will be training again. So we went on exchanges and I went up to Idaho Falls with some other sister and Sister Andreasen stayed here in Pocatello with another sister. While we were in Idaho Falls, there was a meeting that we didnt need to go to but we needed to wait for the meeting to be over because there were some sisters that we needed to take back to Pocatello. But as we were waiting we were able to go to the temple. :) I really enjoyed that! :) But when we were on our way home we see that there were a lot of storm clouds over Pocatello. So, we drive into Pocatello and it was pouring rain! It was great! The storm was probably going on for about one or two hours before we got there and continued for another two or three hours. A lot of the streets were flooded and there was also an underpass that was flooded and the water was 12 feet deep. CRAZY! We only saw pictures. Well anyways, Sister Andreasen and I went to an appointment but it fell through so we decided to go to this members home so Sister Andreasen could say goodbye. But we see that the couple (that just got married) that is living in their basement was bailing water! So, we get out and see what was going on and it turns out that their basement was flooded! So we started to help them out. And it wasnt raining at the time. But as we continue to help them it starts to pour and it started hailing!! and we were soaked head to toe! It was a lot of fun though and I am glad that we were able to help out!
Sister Andreasen and I also have the chance to go to the temple on Tuesday since she left this transfer. We went with all of the departing missionaries. I have been able to go to the temple three times in the last week and it was great. I love being able to go to the temple. Oh! Something I wanted to tell Grandma and Grandpa! Which I am sure they already know, but I was able to see their friend Wayne! We had lunch with him :) It is fun meeting people who know my family. It hasnt happened very much at all haha.
Something else happened that was pretty cool, on Saturday we had our day planned out and we were going to work our way down the hill and stop and see people, then go see Charles who was at the bottom of the hill. But I had a feeling that we needed to go see Charles right away. So we did just that. And as we were going to go see him we pass a girl that was sistting outisde, so we say hi and just kept walking. We go see if Charles was home but he wasnt, so we start our hike back up the hill for dinner. But we pass the girl again. So we decided to introduce ourselves and it turns out that she has bever heard of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. That's a first and that never happens. So we left our card with her and she seemed like she was interested in learning more. So we hope that she will call us and want to take the lessons. But I know that Heavenly Father wanted us to talk to her so he told us to go see Charles right away. And we were told that so we could run into this girl. I am so thankful for the spirit that I have as a missionary. And I feel so good when I follow the promptings of the spirit.
Thank you for the birthday wishes! :) And I had a wonderful week. I hope that everyone elses was just as great as mine! I am so grateful to be a missionary and the chance that I have to serve the Lord and bring his Children unto him! :) I love you all! Have a great week everyone!

Love, Sister Halbison
